One less pleasant aspect of its history was the prisoner of war camp during the Second World War, when this area was the site of a railway line intended to stretch throughout British Burma to India. Visit the JEATH war museum as an optional program, which is housed in the same sort of huts the POWs used and is filled with exhibits telling their story.
